Mr David Bremner, Assistant Organist

David Bremner is an organist, composer and pianist based in Dublin. Originally from West Cumbria, UK, he moved to Ireland in 1999 following an Organ Scholarship at Keble College, Oxford. He first took up the instrument while a chorister at Durham Cathedral. He has studied organ with David Sanger and Mark Duley, and piano with Mary Lennon, and has participated in masterclasses with Rolf Hind, Helen Yorke, and Ben van Oosten. He was Organ Scholar at both Christ Church Cathedral and St Patrick’s Cathedral in 2002-2003. From 2003 to 2010 he was Organist and Director of Music at Sandford Parish Church and St Philip's Milltown, during which time he has become in demand as a recitalist and accompanist on organ and piano, and has performed for concert and broadcast with many of Dublin’s leading ensembles, including the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, and Crash Ensemble.

He presents recitals which often feature works by living Irish composers (including his own work), combined imaginatively with music from the past. In January 2010 he performed an all-contemporary song-recital programme with Elizabeth Hilliard in the National Concert Hall as part of the Irish Composers' Collective series, and in Spring 2010 accompanied Imelda Drumm and Julian Hubbard in a critically-acclaimed tour by Opera Theatre Company, The Schumann Story. With Elizabeth Hilliard he has set up a music company, Béal, whose projects include a festival of new music and text in Dublin.  Solo recital engagements include St Michael's Church, Dun Laoghaire, St Patrick's Cathedral, St Bartholomew's Clyde Rd and the National Concert Hall.
